Substance Stager
Sell something in a box
For this brief I wanted to create a unique box that’d intrigue the viewer and create the packaging in a way that isn’t often seen. In order to make the brand different I wanted to create a more exclusive, high-end luxury product and so to “mirror” this in the packaging I opted to use a highly reflective metal material for the box to make it have an expensive look and feel to it.
My first thought when it came to what the product should be was initially a mirror as it made sense with the packaging, however I didn’t stick with this as I didn’t think it’d be visually appealing enough to fit in with the packaging. I then decided on creating a line of lamps/lampshades as they have many features which can be altered to create varying products and I could also keep the same “mirror” concept for the base of the lamp.

Branding
For the overall brand I wanted it to feel like a mix of old victorian designs and more modern cyber futuristic elements try and create a visually interesting hybrid. I landed on the name Stone Glow due to the amount of metal material I was planning to incorporate into the designs and the ‘Glow’ relating to the lamp lighting up. I used modernised serif font for the logo with an ornamental/lacy-esque border to contrast.
I want some of the core themes of the brand to revolve around the product improving the quality of your living by its obvious display of extravagance and luxury and also by “Lighting up your life”. The metal base of the lamp will also act as a mirror that reflects the luxuriousness back to you.

For the colour palette I kept it fairly monochrome as I felt using too many colours on top of a metal texture would look too messy. I used many shades of grey, blue and purple in order to blend with the metal as well as creating stark contrast between the rendered products and the background.

Stone Glow Box Renders
As this box is advertising a lamp I wanted a big element to the rendered product design to be the lighting in order to create a really stark contrast between the different elements on the box, reflecting how powerful the lamp will be. I also tried to design the logo on the box in a way which makes it seem like it was engraved onto the actual box, making it possibly appear more valuable. On the outside of the box I included a lamp cord that links to the lamp inside which is the only indication on the box to what the product is to try and add intrigue to the brand.
