Conceptual Energy Drink Animation Storyboard

Todorov’s Narrative Theory of Equilibrium and Disruption

Todorov’s theory states that all narratives contain an equilibrium, disequilibrium, recognition, resolution, and new equilibrium. I wanted to emulate this theory within the advertisement as it is very prevalent in lots of different types of media apart from traditional storylines. Due to older peoples longer life-spans they’re more accustomed to this concept so by establishing a clear start, beginning and end within the animation it becomes more cohesive and easy to follow; especially from an older perspective.

Hand-drawn Storyboard

With the animation for my brand “Grand Pops” I will try to create a conceptual motion graphic that will will advertise and highlight the energy drinks qualities and how it will benefit a specific target audience. The overall animation will be very simple as to not create something that’s harder for older people to comprehend and become overwhelmed by. The animation will begin with a can with the Grand Pops logo floating into frame inside a bubble. I wanted to reinforce the bubble imagery that’s seen throughout the branding as an actual part of the animation as the bubble is what “delivers” the product to the consumer.

Digitised Storyboard

As the branding I’ve created for Grand Pops already uses a very neutral colour palate to target the older generation I will mirror that within the animation
