Headings

In my initial design for the main headings they were all at a very similar point size which threw the hierarchy off and made it so the text “Traditional to Digital” stood out the most out of the 3 separate headings

Main Content

In my first design I also had constrained all the images and content into a very small width column in the centre of the screen which left lots of negative space at the sides. This was unnecessary as webpages don’t have any space constrains so I would’ve been able to make everything bigger so it was easier to see as well as look less cluttered

Main Timeline

For my first timeline which when clicked took you to a specific part of the page I ordered all the dates next to each other in chronological order. This made it confusing as it wasn’t too clear what the purpose of this section was supposed to be as it looked just like simple text. All the buttons were also very closer together, which again, made it look very crowded.

Headings

For the re-design of the headings I drastically changed the point size to more accurately match my style guide. Now that the main heading “Design Portfolio” is much larger its much more obvious where your eyes are supposed to go to first and then your eyes can go to the logo before going further down to “Traditional to Digital” and then processing to scroll down the page.

Main Content

For the main content I drastically increased the size of the middle column so that it filled more of the screen and made it all more spread out. This meant there was less awkward negative space on either side.

Main Timeline

As the buttons on the original design were too confusing I tried to simplify it by making it look more similar to an actual visual timeline so the user is more clear on what the purpose of it is.
